Overview

SipSkip is a mobile app that helps people at bars skip the line to get their drinks faster. Users pay a fee through the app and get a pass that lets them jump ahead. The idea is simple: “Why wait?” That slogan sums it up well. The goal is to save time and improve the bar-going experience.

When SipSkip first came to us, it was just an idea. The founder had worked with a development agency before, but the project failed due to poor communication and delays. That experience made it clear how important the right product team is. Our job was to build the first working version of the app—fast. We worked closely with the founder to design a solution that was easy to use and ready for the market.

After launch, SipSkip got attention fast. Users liked how easy it was to buy a pass. Bars liked the added revenue. The app started growing, and more cities and bars wanted in. Over time, we added more features, fixed problems, and made the app even smoother to use. The business raised funding and is now in multiple cities across the U.S.

Problem

The main problem SipSkip wanted to solve was clear: getting drinks at bars can take too long. Long lines and slow service are frustrating for both customers and bar staff. People don’t want to wait around, especially in busy bars or clubs. The founder saw this gap in the market and had the idea to let users pay to skip the line. But turning that idea into a working app was not easy.

Before working with us, the founder had already tried building a tech product. That first try failed. The team he hired took too long to deliver and did not stay in touch. This meant the idea never came to life. SipSkip needed a product team that could move fast, work closely with the founder, and fully understand what the app should do from day one.

There was also no similar product to copy or learn from. The market had nothing quite like SipSkip. That meant we had to figure out everything from the ground up. From user flows to payment systems to bar onboarding, everything had to be designed and built from scratch. Also, there was a need to make sure both the users and the bars had a good experience—something that’s often hard to balance.

Solution

We began by working with the SipSkip founder to clearly define what the app had to do. The most important feature was simple: let users buy a pass quickly and easily. We made this the main focus. After several tests and updates, we made the buying process so easy that even first-time users could figure it out in seconds.

From there, we built out more of the app. The first version (the MVP) also included a revenue-sharing model. When a user bought a pass, the bar got a cut of the money, based on the deal they had with SipSkip. We later added more tools, like payouts for bartenders and an internal dashboard for managing bar and user data. As SipSkip signed up more bars, we also built a smooth onboarding flow to help bars get started without needing help from a person.

Payment processing was another key part. We built in Stripe to handle all the money—taking payments from users, splitting it between the bar and SipSkip, and managing payouts. Because of the complex money flows, we also created a strong admin dashboard so the SipSkip team could track everything in one place.

Throughout the process, we stayed in constant contact with the founder. We helped shape new features based on customer feedback and market changes. Each time something new was needed—whether small tweaks or big changes—we helped the founder plan and build the updates fast. This allowed SipSkip to stay ahead of user needs and stay competitive as the business grew.

Today, SipSkip continues to expand. Thanks to the strong partnership between the founder and our product team, the app has grown from an idea into a real business with funding, traction, and a clear path forward.
